Oceania Cruise Line is best known for the high quality service it provides passengers and the exemplary cuisine offered onboard. It belongs to the mid-market level in terms of rates, but the service and dining have been categorized by consumers and reviewers as almost the same as those offered by luxury cruises. Oceania Cruise Lines has three major ships, Regatta, Insignia and Nautica, all with capacities for 684 guests. The ships offer vacation trips to Africa, South America, Central America, Southeast Asia, Greek Isles, Arabia, Black Sea, China, Greek Isles, India, the Mediterranean, the Caribbean, Mexico, Russia and Scandinavia. The company was formed in 2002.
The Regatta This ship is the first Oceania vessel and was launched in 2003. It has a crew of 400 trained to cater to the needs of the 684 passengers scattered in the nine decks of the ship. The dining, service and public rooms of the Regatta have received perfect ratings from majority of reviewers. The best dining facility onboard is the Grand Dining Room, with its spacious venue and intimate feel. It also has the Terrace Café, Polo Grill and Toscana and other dining facilities that offer a wide variety of choices. The ship has eight bars and lounges, an Internet facility, a spa and a library. There are 330 guestrooms, penthouses and suites. Each cabin has a color television, satellite telephones, marbled bathrooms and bathtubs, with the penthouses having the additional whirlpool baths and minibars. The Regatta is best known for its port itineraries and is considered an ideal option for first-time cruisers. The Insignia Again, the service and the dining experience are this ship's strongest aspects. The vessel has four open-seat main restaurants. The Grand Dining Room is open for breakfast, lunch and dinner. At nighttime, the Tapas on the Terrace is opened, where passengers are served small-plate courses. This concept is also present in the two other ships of Oceania. The Horizon Lounge, on the other hand, has become famous among passengers for its scones and afternoon tea. The cabins, suites and other facilities carry an Edwardian hotel décor and have received high ratings for their comfortable beds. For its services and other offerings, the ships of Oceania are considered worth every penny. The Insignia, though, like the other two ships, are not heavy on onboard entertainment and rely mainly on its port activities. The Nautica The third ship in the Oceania fleet, the Nautica, had not let its siblings beat it in the service and dining categories. The restaurants, particularly the Grand Dining Room, have received praises for the exemplary menus and choices it offers to passengers. The cabins are the same as those found in the Regatta and Insignia. The Nautica's casino bar lounge, however, has received enthusiastic responses from consumers and reviewers. The Nautica has a casual country club ambiance. Most of its passengers are well-traveled adults in twos or groups. The cruise is probably not ideal for families with young children since kids wouldn't find much to do and there aren't a lot of children onboard to play with. Oceania Cruise Line offers various packages, discounts and special programs to different destinations.
